Character Development Auditioning Class with Jonathan Lipnicki (Stuart Little, Jerry McGuire)

Unlock the next level of your acting craft in this intermediate/advanced class led by actor Jonathan Lipnicki, known for his roles in Stuart Little and Jerry Maguire. This class is designed for teen and adult actors who already have previous training and are ready to deepen their character work and audition skills.

Week 1: Introduction & Scene Breakdown
In the first week, students will receive a scene in advance and dive straight into character development. Through an in-depth discussion of the scene, we will explore the essential framework needed for bringing a character to life. Students will perform the scene as they normally would, emphasizing the building blocks of character exploration.

Week 2: Off-Book & Avatar Creation
By week two, students will be off-book and have completed a scene breakdown using the “ten questions” method. We will rehearse the scene without scripts, then embark on creating an “Avatar” for the character. This Avatar can be inspired by real-life figures or someone the student knows. This creative exercise will focus on infusing voice, physicality, and mannerisms into the performance.

Week 3: Avatar Integration & Adjustments
In this session, students will integrate their chosen Avatar into their performance. Jonathan will provide personalized feedback and adjustments to help elevate the character, adding depth and complexity. Additional homework will further refine the character, encouraging students to layer more nuances into their portrayal.

Week 4: Final Performance
In the final week, students will present their scenes, showcasing the fully realized character they’ve developed over the course of the class. This is an opportunity to demonstrate all aspects of their work: the Avatar, character adjustments, and the overall development from the previous weeks.

ADULT ONLINE SCENE STUDY CLASS WITH LEGENDARY CASTING DIRECTOR ELLEN JACOBY

DAY: Thursdays
TIMES: 6PM-7:30 PM EASTERN / 3 PM-4:30 PM PACIFIC

COST: $195/month

As an actor, David Wenzel has appeared in several Theatre productions Off-Broadway in NYC, as well as Film, TV, and daytime serials including Ray Donavan, Rescue Me, One Life To Live, All My Children, Guiding Light, Another World, Evil Lives Here, Who Killed Jane Doe, Wild Crime premiering on ABC (Fall 2021), Old Dogs, and The Hustler. 

David Wenzel is also an Award-Winning Producer/Director for such films as Hamlet/Horatio, Echelon 8, Preying For Mercy, and The Hostage! 

David has worked with such notables as Brad Pitt, Leonardo Dicaprio, Anthony Hopkins, Fisher Stevens, Scott Rudin, Jace Alexander, and the great Oscar-Winning Cinematographer Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki & Oscar Winner Gordan Willis. 

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Dramedy is the combination of drama and comedy, contrasting scenes and monologues. Talent will study the range while breaking down the script. In-depth study of the character, the underlying motivation, and the range of emotions to understand the scene's depth. 

OPEN TO TALENT AGES 17 AND OLDER

Because of the depth of the class, this class is a 90-minute class.
